Being a lawyer as a profession bares a special responsibility. A functioning and fair justice system is the core of every successful society, and as lawyers that are an inherent part of this system, we are committed to different standards than others.

This paper will explore the Israeli bar rules from several aspects. The first part of the paper will be dedicated to the rational that stands behinds the need to provide special rules and regulations for the Lawyer’s profession, the way those rules emerged and the historical milestones that are significant during their development. In order to do so, I shall explore first the foundation of the Israeli Bar association, and the rules of professional ethics dating back to the norms of English common law, which the Israeli law system inherited after the end of the British mandate
